ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Holy Family University softball team led 4-0 in the first game of a doubleheader at Molloy on Wednesday, only for the Lions to answer with a four-run sixth in an eventual 4-6 victory.
Molloy then jumped out to a 0-7 advantage after two innings in the nightcap to ultimately win 3-8.
Individual Highlights
- Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) led the offense on the day, finishing 3-for-7 with a home run, double and three RBI
- Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) reached twice in both games as she drew three base on balls
- Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) went 2-for-3 in the nightcap
How it Happened
First Game
- Molly Moore (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) began a four-run third with a single and after an error opened the scoring, Gina Olivieri's (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia Charter School) sacrifice fly quickly doubled the lead
- Hoban then followed a Hobel walk with her homer to double the advantage once more
- Moore, who started in the circle, held Molloy scoreless for the first three, but the Lions took advantage of an error to get on the board in the fourth
- After the Tigers stranded two in scoring position in the fifth, Molloy used a two-out double cut the deficit in the half in the bottom-half
- The Lions came through with a grand slam in the sixth to take their first lead with the game's final runs
Second Game
- Molloy plated four in the first and three more in the second as it led throughout
