Men’s Lacrosse Pulls Away From Cairn for Program’s First Win, 10-4, at Tiger Field

PHILADELPHIA – Following a 2-2 first quarter, the Holy Family University men's lacrosse team outscored Cairn 3-0 in the second quarter and 8-2 for the rest of the game to pick up the program's first win at Tiger Field on Wednesday night.  
 
After the two teams traded goals in the first, Maxx Covely (Somerdale, N.J./Highland) scored and then assisted the two goals in the first 4:13 of the second that would put HFU on top for good.
 
Individual Highlights
  •  Covely, James Bienia (East Moriches, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) and Julian Definis (Glendora, N.J./Triton Regional) all finished with a game and season-high five points
    • Covely recorded his first career hat trick and added a season-best two assists
    • Bienia netted hit fourth hat trick and added a season-best two assists and a game-high seven ground balls
    • Definis led all players with a season-best three assists
  • Braden Kaukeano (Bellmawr, N.J./Triton Regional) matched Bienia with seven ground balls and topped the Tigers with five caused turnovers, both new season-highs
  • Timmy Tran (Philadelphia, Pa./Harry S. Truman) and Jacob Turk (Yardley, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) finished second on HFU with a season-best four caused turnovers apiece, with both adding respective season-highs of six and five ground balls
  • Bryce Thomas (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) stopped 13 of the 17 shots he faced in net

  •  Holy Family's 18 caused turnovers were a new season-best, with the Tigers' 12 goals matched a season-high
