Strong Second Half Lifts No. 3 Jefferson Past Women’s Basketball on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – The HFU women's basketball team led early and was trailing No. 3 Jefferson just 22-25 at the half, but the Rams used an 8-19 third quarter to take control in a 41-60 win over the Tigers on Saturday afternoon inside of the Campus Center.

Prior to the game, Holy Family honored the senior class of Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery), Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood), Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), Dakota Schultice (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional), Anujin Dashdorj (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and Carly Bolivar (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka (Alliance))

Individual Highlights
  • Bolivar led Holy Family with four steals and a game-high two blocks, while Prevost topped the Tigers with four assists
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) had six more rebounds than any other player with 15 as she fell one point shy of a double-double
    • Four of those boards were offensive as the sophomore now ranks eighth in the program's single-season history with 93
  • Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) matched Hinkle with a team-high nine points

Inside the Box Score
  • HFU outrebounded Jefferson 47-38, which included grabbing 20 offensive boards, and outscored the Rams 20-7 in bench points, but the Tigers shot just 25.0 percent (17-of-68) from the field

How it Happened
  • After Jefferson opened the contest with the first four points, five different Tigers scored in an 11-2 stretch that ended with HFU on top 11-6 following a Hinkle 3-pointer six minutes into the action
  • Holy Family also led by five, 14-9, on a Morrow free throw with 1:38 showing on the first quarter clock, before eventually holding a 14-11 cushion following 10 minutes of play
  • The Tigers went up a first-half-high 17-11 on a Prevost foul shot 1:37 into the second, only for the Rams to come back with eight unanswered
  • Another Prevost free throw momentarily put HFU back ahead 21-20, but Jefferson tallied five of the final seven points of the half for a 22-25 halftime advantage
  • The Rams then came out of the locker room with the first four points, beginning what would become a 2-13 flurry that ended with three consecutive 3-pointers to go up double-digits for good
