Softball Opens CACC Play at Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. – The HFU softball team opened its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule at Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday, dropping a doubleheader 0-3 and 0-1.

Individual Highlights
  • Both of the Tigers' starters threw complete games, with Paige Tidaback (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) limiting the Lightning to just two hits in the nightcap as she retired 13 of the final 15 she faced
    • The sophomore also led the offense with a two-hit performance
  • Game one starter Kinsley Hall (Frankford, Del./Indian River (Mount Olive)) registered a fourth consecutive complete game, turning in a quality start of six innings and three runs

How it Happened
Second Game
  • A leadoff base on balls led to the game's only run in the first, as a sacrifice bunt, two more walks and a sacrifice fly followed
  • HFU had its leadoff batter get on in the first, second, fifth and sixth, with a runner reaching scoring position in each, but the Tigers could not push a run across
  • Sam Ciasullo (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) (double) and Tidaback also had two-out base knocks in the fourth to no avail
First Game
  • A two-run homer in the second would be all GBC would need, despite HFU threatening with Lindsey Gorka's (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) leadoff double in the fifth

Up Next
Holy Family is back on the road tomorrow, returning to non-conference play with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader at Molloy.
