Pugh Makes History as Women’s Lacrosse’s Takes on Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA – Payton Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) set the program's single-game record with 10 caused turnovers, tying the most in Division II over the last 10 seasons, in HFU women's lacrosse's 3-11 loss to Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Wednesday evening at Tiger Field. 
 
Holy Family led 3-1 after the first quarter, but the Monks would score the final 10 goals. 
 
Pugh, Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) and Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) all netted in the opening period, but SJC outscored the Tigers 0-3 in the second quarter and 0-7 in the second half. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Pugh, a junior, is now tied with the program's all-time leader, Kacie Booth, with 66 career caused turnovers
  • Wolstenholme tallied a team-high three draw controls, adding three caused turnovers to move into third in program history with 60 for her career
  • Shields added an assist, while Taina Harkins (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) finished second on the Tigers with four ground balls for a new season-best
  • Olivia Kueny (West Deptford, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) made nine saves in net

  • Holy Family held a slight edge in draw controls, 9-8, while the Monks outshot the Tigers 16-25 and held a 26-32 advantage in ground balls
