BENSALEM, Pa. – Both games of the doubleheader were 0-0 entering the fifth inning, but the HFU softball team would fall in a doubleheader to 2023 NCAA Tournament participant Kutztown, 2-8 and 0-8, on Friday afternoon at Bensalem High School.
Individual Highlights
- Sam Ciasullo (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) had multiple hits in both games, finishing the day 4-for-6 with a double and two RBIs
- Jaden Kelly (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) also reached twice in the nightcap as she went 1-for-2 with a walk, run and stolen base
How it Happened
First Game
- With starter Paige Tidaback (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) in control, neither team had a runner advance to third until KU used four singles and a wild pitch to push across two runs in the fifth
- Aside from a Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) walk and Carlie Miller (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) single with one out in the second, HFU could not threaten, and the Golden Bears added to their lead in the sixth and seventh
Second Game
- Holy Family had a runner reach scoring in each of its three at-bats, with Kelly advancing to third in the first, to no avail
- Starter Makenna Paatterson held KU scoreless through four, but the Golden Bears broke through for six in the fifth to take control
