PHILADELPHIA – The HFU men's basketball stormed back from a 34-47 deficit with under eight minutes remaining to tie the score at 49 with 1:39 to go, only for Jefferson to answer with an 0-11 run to end the game in a 49-60 final inside of the Campus Center on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School) and
Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) combined for nine points in the 13-2 surge that tied things up on
Omarion Jett's (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) layup, as the Tigers had held the Rams to just two points over 8:42.
Jefferson had an immediate response though, in the form of the second half's only 3-pointer by either team just 14 seconds later.
The Rams then made eight straight free throw attempts over the final 53 seconds.
