PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's basketball team had the opportunity to travel to Division Temple on Tuesday night, and the Tigers battled with a season-high 81 points.
HFU opened the contest with six of the first eight and later outscored the Owls 24-14 over an eight-minute stretch at the end of the first half, helping cut a 20-point deficit to 12, 40-52, entering the locker room.
The Tigers also cut a 21-point deficit in the second half to 11, 65-76, completing a 14-4 run with 11:30 remaining.
Temple would pull away for an 81-110 final.
Individual Highlights
- Tairi Ketner (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) led all players with nine rebounds and fell two points shy of a game-high with a career-best 23
- Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) (season-best six assists) and Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) (season-best four 3-pointers) also posted game-highs
- Shields was second on HFU with 16 points, as five Tigers scored in double-figures
- Najee Coursey (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek) poured in 14, one shy of a season-best, on 5-of-8 shooting and 2-of-2 3-pointers
- CJ Mundell (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) and Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) both set new season-highs with 12 and 10, respectively
- Ryan Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School) had the game's second-highest assist total with a season-best five
- Evan Pasik (Queens, N.Y./Christ The King) notably netted his first career collegiate point

How it Happened
- Holy Family scored six of the first eight points, with Ketner netting four before two Coursey free throws just 1:36 in
- Temple would respond with 10 unanswered to take the lead for good, despite a Coursey 3-pointer cutting the deficit to 9-12 with 15:17 showing
- The Owls build as large as a 20-point cushion twice, including at 19-39 with 8:30 left in the first half, but HFU outscored them 24-14 over the next eight minutes
- The Tigers hit six 3-pointers, three of which were by Mundell, as back-to-back triples by Shields brough the scoreboard to 43-53 in the final minute
- Temple came out of the locker room hot, quickly going up 51-72 in just over five minutes
- Holy Family again made a push, beginning with three-point plays by both Ketner and Mundell as Ketner netted seven in the 14-4 surge that made the score 65-76 on a Wallace layup
- That was as close as the Tigers could get though, despite cutting one final 17-point deficit to 77-90 with 6:03 remaining
