PHILADELPHIA – Tied at 73 in the final minute and a half, the HFU men's basketball team scored the final five points for a 78-73 triumph over D'Youville on Sunday afternoon inside of the Campus Center.
A Saints miss led to
CJ Mundell (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) finding
Najee Coursey (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek) for a fastbreak layup with 1:14 remaining and after another stop,
Tairi Ketner (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) grabbed an offensive rebound and made two free throws to put the Tigers ahead 77-73 with just 26 seconds left.
Holy Family then forced a third consecutive miss to all but seal the victory, and
Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) made another foul shot to produce the final score.
Individual Highlights
- Mundell led five Tigers in double figures with 21 points, to go along with six rebounds and four assists
- Ketner added 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and a team-high eight boards
- Coursey had 13 points, while Ryan Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School) and Wallace added 12 and 11, respectively
- Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) led all players with five assists

- Holy Family won inside, outrebounding D'Youville 41-33 and holding advantages in both points in the paint (34-24) and second chance points (18-8)
How it Happened
- D'Youville jumped out the game's largest lead, 2-11, less than four minutes in, but a late 9-3 surge helped HFU go into the locker room ahead 31-30
- The Saints also led by eight, 39-47, 5:23 into the second, but four different Tigers scored in a 9-0 stretch that put them on top 59-55 with 8:36 to play
- A D'Youville 3-pointer capped seven in a row for a 63-66 edge with 4:24 showing, but Mundell tallied eight of the next 10 points in just 1:04 for a 71-68 advantage with 3:20 to go
- Coursey established another three point lead, 73-70, 56 seconds later, but the Saints knotted it up at 73 on a three-point play with 2:06 remaining
