Holy Family University track & field has received three of the four weekly awards handed out by the East Coast Conference (ECC) for performances at Wagner's Seahawk Shootout on Friday.
Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) has now received eight ECC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week awards over the past three seasons, while
Maya Harper (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville (Ursuline College)) and
Alexson Songor (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) are first time honorees.
Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) - Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Pierre placed in the top four of all three jumping event, highlighted by winning silver in a field of 28 in the high jump after clearing an NCAA provisional, 2.05m, to extend his league lead. The senior also won bronze in the triple jump after marking at 14.24m, and he was fourth out of 53 in the long jump with a distance of 7.08m that moved him into third in the conference.
Maya Harper (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville (Ursuline College)) – Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Harper placed eighth out of 49 in the 600m, crossing in a collegiate PR of 1:40.31. She was also a member of the 4x200m relay team that finished fifth out of 17 with a combined time of 1:43.14.
Alexson Songor (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) – Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Songor claimed two medals, first topping a field of 59 in the 600m as he broke a seven-year-old school record with a time of 1:20.97. He was then a member of the 4x400m relay team that that won bronze with the fastest time, 3:25.53, in the ECC this season.
