SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Holy Family University men's basketball team led wire-to-wire as it defeated American International College 78-62 on Saturday afternoon.
Individual Highlights
- All five starters were in double-figures, with Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) and Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) each scoring 16 and adding a team-high four assists
- Tairi Ketner (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) produced a double-double with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and a game-high 10 rebounds
- Najee Coursey (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek) had 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while RJ Delahaye (Newburgh, N.Y./The Storm King School) chipped in with 11
- Vernon Johnson (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) had double the amount of steals as any other player, matching a career-best four in 18 minutes off the bench

How it Happened
- All five starters scored as HFU opened with the first six points and an 13-2 run over the opening 6:14
- AIC managed just two points in the opening seven and a half minutes, but the Yellow Jackets were able to get within one, 20-19, on a three-point play 4:52 ahead of the break
- The Tigers closed the half strong though, with Delahaye recording five points in an 8-3 surge that ended with a Shields layup establishing a 28-22 halftime advantage
- AIC could never make it a one-possession game, despite getting as close as four twice, including at 44-48 entering the final 10 minutes
- Shields 3-pointers established two double-digit leads, the second at 62-52 with 6:27 remaining
- A Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tip-in 47 seconds later then made it a double-digit advantage for good, 64-54, as it began six unanswered that ended with a Ketner jumper with just 4:16 on the clock
