WORCESTER – In a game played within four points until the 2:52 mark of the fourth quarter, the HFU women's basketball used 11-0 stretch in the final 4:36 to pull off a 56-50 upset at nationally-ranked No. 12 Assumption on Saturday afternoon.

After 15 lead changes and 10 ties, HFU went on top for good when a Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) layup made the score 46-45 with 4:36 to go.

That began the run of 11 unanswered, as the Tigers held the Greyhounds scoreless for the 4:51 with eight consecutive stops.

Back-to-back Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) layups produced the game's first five-point cushion, 50-45, with 2:52 showing, as part of six straight points scored by the junior.

A Meredith free throw then produced the first double-digit advantage, 55-45, with just 25 seconds on the clock, and by the time Assumption finally scored 11 seconds later it was too late.
