WORCESTER – In a game played within four points until the 2:52 mark of the fourth quarter, the HFU women's basketball used 11-0 stretch in the final 4:36 to pull off a 56-50 upset at nationally-ranked No. 12 Assumption on Saturday afternoon.
After 15 lead changes and 10 ties, HFU went on top for good when a
Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) layup made the score 46-45 with 4:36 to go.
That began the run of 11 unanswered, as the Tigers held the Greyhounds scoreless for the 4:51 with eight consecutive stops.

Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) layups produced the game's first five-point cushion, 50-45, with 2:52 showing, as part of six straight points scored by the junior.
A Meredith free throw then produced the first double-digit advantage, 55-45, with just 25 seconds on the clock, and by the time Assumption finally scored 11 seconds later it was too late.
Individual Highlights
- Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all players with 23 points on 8-of-14 field goals and 3-of-3 3-pointers
- She fell one rebound shy of a third double-double on the season and also led HFU with three assists and two steals
- Carter chipped in with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 3-of-5 triples, to go along with two steals
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) added seven points, while Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) pulled down seven boards
- Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) matched Hinkle and Carter with a game-high two steals
