BRONX – The HFU men's basketball team continued its impressive start to the season, defeating 2024 NCAA Tournament participant Clark Atlanta, 67-57, in the Harlem Renaissance Classic hosted at Manhattan University on Saturday afternoon.
Individual Highlights
- Tairi Ketner (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) led all players with 16 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season
- Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) matched Ketner with 16 points, one shy of a game-high, including making 9-of-10 free throws
- RJ Delahaye (Newburgh, N.Y./The Storm King School) led all players with six assists and three steals, while falling one point shy of double-figures
- Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) made it three Tigers in double-figures with 13 points, to go along with six boards and a game-high two blocks

How it Happened
- The entire first half was played within two possessions as HFU trailed by no more than two points, with both times coming in the opening three minutes
- Holy Family's last deficit came at 15-16 just over eight and a half minutes in, before the Tigers used seven straight to go ahead for good
- A Ryan Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School) free throw established the first of four six-point leads in the first half, 22-16, with 9:05 on the clock
- Clark Atlanta got as close as two twice, but Shields beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer for a 37-32 halftime advantage
- Four straight Ketner points produced the first double-digit cushion, 45-34, 3:38 out of the locker room
- That was part of nine unanswered, capped by a Jett layup bringing the advantage to 48-34 with 14:35 remaining
- The lead reached as high as 17, 53-36, on a CJ Mundell (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) dunk with 11:46 left, and despite the Panthers surging to within five, 54-59, with 1:29 to go, Jeff sealed the victory by making 6-of-6 foul shots over the final 1:22
