ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Playing with 10 men for the final 36:20, and nine for the last 7:16, the Holy Family University men's soccer team held strong for a 2-1 win at Dominican on Saturday afternoon.
Cheikh Diouf (Dakar, Senegal/MLK) made saves just over a minute apart in the 62nd and 63rd, and the Chargers hit the post in the 64th, but that was the final time DUNY would threaten the net.
Diouf made three stops in total, with
Alvaro Orellana (Sevilla, Spain/Colegio Portacell),
Kevin Duffy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg),
Anthony Ciceron-Elie (Montreal, Canada/),
Sean McKenna (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and
Aristide Sanon (Paris, France/Max Linder) playing defensively in front of him.
Sergio Revuelta (Valladolid, Spain/IES Alejandria) opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he was the first to pounce on the rebound from
Ned Lewis' (London, England/Hayesbrook) shot.
After Dominican tied it just over eight minute later, HFU re-established a halftime lead in the penultimate minute. The Tigers took a free kick quickly down the left sideline, with
Kevin Castro (Bensalem, Pa./Father Judge) beating everyone to
Lucca Saad's (São Paulo, Brazil/The Phelps School) cross inside the six-yard box.
It was first collegiate point for Castro, while Revuelta now leads Holy Family with six goals. It was the second assists of the season for both Lewis and Saad.
