PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University women's basketball team outscored Shippensburg by double-digits in both the second (15-5) and fourth (21-9) quarters in a 63-42 win at the Raiders on Saturday afternoon.
Tied at 18 midway through the second, HFU held Shippensburg scoreless for the final 5:54 of the half, and the Tigers closed with eight points over the final 2:51 – five of which were by
Lauren Palangio (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) – to take a 26-18 lead into the locker room.
The Raiders never managed to get closer than that in the second half.
Individual Highlights
- Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) produced her second consecutive double-double with game-highs of 15 rebounds and three steals, to go along with 10 points
- Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) fell one board shy of a double-double of her own with a team-high 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) also had 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) led all players with five assists and added six points, four rebounds and two steals
- Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) was second on the HFU with three assists, while Palangio was second with two steals
- Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) notably blocked a game-high two shots
