PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University women's basketball team held West Chester scoreless for opening 6:30, jumping out to a 15-0 lead en route to a 70-54 victory over the Golden Rams in its home-opener at the Campus Center on Thursday evening.
Four different Tigers scored in the stretch, with
Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) and
Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) contributing five apiece before
Carolyn Prevost's (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) three-point play capped the run with 4:29 on the clock.
West Chester momentarily made it a single-digit deficit, 15-6 at the 2:21 mark, only for Hinkle to notch four straight points to make it a double-digit cushion for good.
Individual Highlights
- Hinkle had double the amount of rebounds as any other player with 13, and she added a team-high 15 points for her first double-double of the season
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) was right behind her with 14 points on 3-of-3 shooting, 2-of-2 3-pointers and 6-of-8 free throws, to go along with six boards
- Freshman Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) was third on HFU with nine points in her home debut, and she matched Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) with a team-high three steals
- Carter also matched Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) with a team-high three assists
- Fellow freshman Lola Ibarrondo (Bristol, Pa./Neshaminy) contributed eight points and five rebounds, while Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) chipped in with seven points and five boards
