PHILADELPHIA – The HFU volleyball team nearly pulled off the season sweep of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader Georgian Court, winning the first two sets only to suffer a comeback defeat at the Lions on Wednesday night.
GCU never trailed in the decisive fifth as there was only one tie at 1-1. The Tigers got within one, 4-5, with back-to-back points, only for the Lions to pull away with the following five.
Individual Highlights
- Cadence Palmer (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) led all players with 18 digs and a season-high six aces
- Brianna Moss (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) added a career-best four aces
- Leah Logan (Bloomfield, N.J./Abundant Life Academy) posted a match-high five blocks, while Ava Kid and Kalia Espenlaub (New Market, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep (Millersville)) (season-high) both had four
- Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) led all players with 41 assists and tallied 13 digs for her third consecutive double-double
- Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) paced HFU with 15 kills on .350 hitting, while Jayden Bralts (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) added 14

- Holy Family more than doubled up GCU in blocks, 9-4, but the Lions had 10 more kills, 48-58

How it Happened
- Trailing 14-15 in the first set, HFU took control with a 6-2 surge that featured three service aces, two of which were by Palmer and the third by Moss
- Georgian Court erased a 19-6 deficit to actually go ahead 22-23 in the second, only for the Tigers to regroup with the final three points
- It was HFU nearly erasing a large deficit in the third set, 8-16, as the Tigers got as close as 20-21 on back-to-back points by Bralts, only for the Lions to close strong
- Georgian Court then scored the first six points of the fourth en route to forcing a fifth set
