WATERBURY, Conn. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team scored three goals in the first 20:34 of an eventual 5-2 win at Post on Thursday.
Allison Loper (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy (Georgian Court)) played a part in all three, registering her second career brace and first career match with three goal contributions as she now leads the Tigers with five assists and three goals on the year.
The senior first found
Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower) from a corner kick to open the scoring 9:59 in. An open Kilkenny collected the ball outside the top left of the box before firing into the bottom right corner for her first score of the season.
Loper then found the net on a free kick from over 25 yards out just 1:20 later, before
Bridget Dickson's (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) pressure forced a defensive turnover to set her up just outside the top of the box.
It was the freshman's first career point, and she later netted her first career goal when
Carly Fox (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy (Penn State Berks)) headed
Maddie Maguire's (Sewell, N.J./Nazareth Academy (Rider)) corner kick to her around the penalty spot just 1:16 out of halftime.
It was both Fox's and Maguire's first assist of the year.
After Post halved the deficit, goalkeeper
Hannah LaBadie's (Penndel, Pa./Neshaminy) free kick from the defensive half fell to Fox down the left sideline, and she ran in behind the defense before beating the Eagles' netminder to re-establish a three-goal cushion.
In addition to recording her first collegiate point, LaBadie made two second half saves, after
Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) had made two in the first.
