PHILADELPHIA – Ahead 3-1 entering the final 10 minutes, the HFU men's soccer team was left stunned by three Wilmington goals in the final 8:16 on Tuesday evening at Tiger Field.
Ever Maradiaga (Edgewater Park, N.J./Life Center Academy) scored the only first half goal just over 15 minutes in when
Sergio Revuelta (Valladolid, Spain/IES Alejandria) sent a cross in front of net for an easy tap-in.
After the Wildcats equalized less than three minutes out of the break,
Deshawn Bernard (Portmore, Jamaica/Wolmer's Boys School) calmly converted from the penalty spot just over three minutes later to re-establish the lead.
Reveulta set up HFU's third as well, flicking a clearance from a long throw in over the top of the defense for
Tajhay Williams (Yallahs, Jamaica/Clarendon College) to slot into the right corner in the 61st minute.
The Tigers' net was not threatened for the next 13 and a half minutes, as it was actually Revuelta shooting on target next in the 71st.
Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) kept it 3-1 in the 75th before Wilmington converted each of its final three attempts on frame, the final of which came moments after a HFU red card with just 1:41 on the clock.
Reveulta now leads the team in assists, while Maradiaga and Williams both have a team-high two goals.
Ned Lewis (London, England/Hayesbrook) notably made his Tigers debut.
