Men’s Soccer Battles to Draw with Regionally-Ranked Caldwell

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's soccer team fought back from a deficit to tie regionally-ranked Caldwell, 1-1, on Saturday afternoon.

After the Cougars took the lead via the penalty spot in the 28th minute, Kevin Duffy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) flicked on Sergio Revuelta's (Valladolid, Spain/IES Alejandria) corner to Hunter Bell (Delran, N.J./Life Center Academy), who chested it down for Thiago Lage (Minas Gerais, Brazil/Abington) to strike in just 1:01 ahead of halftime.

Lage's goal tied him for the team lead with three as he led the Tigers with four attempts, while tying a match-high with two shots on goal.

Duffy's and Bell's assists were their first of their seasons and the second of their careers.

A draw befitted a match in which both teams had the same amount of attempts (16), shots on goal (3) and corner kicks (7).

Both teams had two attempts on net in the first half, with Sean Touey (Rockledge, Pa./Abington) seeing his effort saved in the 19th minute and Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) making his only stop in the 38th.

Both teams had a shot saved in the 65th minute, with Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) first denied before Shank was called into action on the other side of the field 49 seconds later.

The action picked up in the final five in a half minutes as Lage produced his second attempt on net in the 85th, Caldwell hit the bar in the 87th, Revuelta shot just high in the 88th, and Shank made his final stop 30 seconds ahead of the final whistle.
