Volleyball Sweeps Goldey-Beacom for First CACC Win

PHILADELPHIA – The HFU volleyball team picked up its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season with a sweep of Goldey-Beacom (25-14-, 25-12, 25-17) at the Campus Center on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) was the only player with double-digit kills, on .296 hitting, and she led all players with a career-high five aces
    • She fell one dig shy of her third career double-double
  • Morgan Steck's (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) season-best 25 assists were more than double the amount of any other player
  • Keira Rogan (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was the only player with double-digit digs, with Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) adding nine and Jayden Bralts (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) eight
  • Natasha Yanief's (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) seven kills on .227 hitting and Ava Kidd's (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)) six kills on .385 hitting were the second and third-highest totals of the match
    • Yanief also tied a match-high with four blocks
  • Ashley Petrasovic (Queens, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy Memorial) contributed three kills on .750 hitting
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Goldey-Beaom's -.083 hitting percentage was the worst by an HFU opponent since Concordia hit -.153 on Oct. 31, 2015
  • The Tigers meanwhile hit .235 and had more than double the amount of aces, 12-5
 
How it Happened
First Set
  • Holy Family scored six of the first eight points, with kills by Kinzer, Kidd and Yanief, and led by multiple points the rest of the way
Second Set
  • HFU faced its only deficit early in the second, including at 2-4, but with the set tied at 8-8 the Tigers rattled off six in a row thanks to three aces by Steck
Third Set
  • Goldey-Beacom cut a six-point deficit to 14-16, but an 8-1 flurry capped by back-to-back Petrasovic kills positioned HFU for the sweep
