Volleyball Bounces Back to Sweep Lincoln in Second Match

PHILADELPHIA – After dropping its season opener to Lincoln in five sets (25-17, 21-25, 19-25, 25-23, 9-15), the HFU volleyball team bounced back to sweep the Lions (25-12, 25-15, 25-23) in the second match, salvaging a split inside of the Campus Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Individual Highlights
  • Kyla Sayson (Sewell, N.J./Gloucester Institute of Technology) led both matches in assists, including posting a career-best 33 in the opener
  • Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) led both contests in kills, with 12 and 11 respectively, adding a match-high 14 digs in the opener for her second career double-double
  • Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) led both matches in aces, including six in the opener, and she added 12 digs in both contests, which led all players in the nightcap
  • Natasha Yanief (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) paced all players with a career-best five blocks in match one
  • Jayden Bralts (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) equaled Kinzer with 12 kills in the opener, her collegiate debut, while Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)), making her HFU debut, tied Kinzer with 11 kills in match two
  • Abby Bachman (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) (four kills and three blocks in match one), Keira Rogan (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) (eight digs and two aces in match one) and Reya Taylor (Mullica Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) all made their collegiate debuts on the day
  • Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) had double-digit assists in the nightcap
 
Inside the Box Score
  • HFU held advantages in nearly every statistical category on the day, including in kills (80-52), hitting percentage (.144-.031), service aces (31-20) block assists (14-12) and points (120-84)
  • This held true in the loss as well, but the Tigers were undone by 22 service errors
