Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Berisso, Defense Lift Men’s Soccer to 1-0 Win Over Molloy in Home-Opener

PHILADELPHIA – Lautaro Berisso's (La Plata, Argentina) towering header in the 11th minute turned out to be all HFU men's soccer needed in a 1-0 blanking of Molloy at Tiger Field on Tuesday night.

The senior out-jumped everyone in the box to head home Sergio Revuelta's (Valladolid, Spain/IES Alejandria) corner kick for his second score, and Revuelta's second assist, of the season.

Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) needed to make only two first half saves from that point on, in the 24th and 39th minutes, to preserve the Tigers' first clean of the year.

Joseph Amabile (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South), Hunter Bell (Delran, N.J./Life Center Academy), Anthony Ciceron-Eli (Montreal, Canada/), Eric Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic), Connor Seeley (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and Kevin Duffy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) all played in the back four at one point, limiting the Lions without an attempt on net for the final 51:07.

Holy Family held an 18-8 advantage in shots, with five Tigers – Berisso, Thiago Lage (Minas Gerais, Brazil/Abington), Tajhay Williams (Yallahs, Jamaica/Clarendon College), Kerin St. Clair Jr. (Union, N.J./Union) and Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) – all attempting three. The Tigers had seven attempts on frame compared to Molloy's two.

It was Sean Touey (Rockledge, Pa./Abington) registering the first shot on net in the seventh minute as HFU opened with five of the first six attempts.

St. Clair Jr. and Williams later had back-to-back efforts twice, in the 35th and 41st minutes, before Williams forced a save just under two minutes ahead of halftime.

The Lions started the second with the first two shots but HFU had eight of the final ten, with Lage and Berisso rejected minutes part in the 65th and 65th minutes.

The Tigers nearly made it 2-0 in the penultimate minute, but Rowan saw two attempts cleared off the line after St. Clair was denied by the goalkeeper.
