PHILADELPHIA – The women's soccer team kicked of HFU Athletics' 2023-24 year with a resounding 5-0 shutout of St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday evening at Tiger Field.
Alyssa Hooten (Pocono Summit, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) opened the scoring just 4:09 in and the Tigers tallied three goals in a 13:40 stretch between the end of the first half of the beginning of the second, before the fifth came 5:50 ahead of the final whistle.
Rebecca Casper (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) and
Lexi Murphy (Woolwich Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional (Saint Francis U)) both scored their first career collegiate goals, while
Bella Scurci (Selbyville, Del./Indian River) assisted the opener in her collegiate debut.
Brynn Hess (Benton, Pa./Benton) and
Allison Loper (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy (Georgian Court)) assisted each other's scores for three-point performances, while
Stephanie Marino (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) and
Hannah Florentino (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) both provided an assist as well.
Freshmen
Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) and
Kristen Conway (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) each made a save in their collegiate debuts, with Preuhs earning the win.
Holy Family outshot STAC 18-7 for the match, including 12-2 on frame, with the Tigers also holding a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
