USTFCCCA Release
One year after earning the honor for the first time in program history, the HFU women's track & field program has repeated as a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.
Additionally,
Kenisha Greenwood (Jamaica) repeated as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete, with both
Shania Le Maitre (Champs Fleurs, Trinidad & Tobago/Holy Name Convent) and
Ariel Salkey (Queens, N.Y./Francis Lewis) joining her in receiving the distinction.
To be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the cumulative grade-point average (GPA) for all student-athletes on an institution's squad list must be 3.0 or higher.
USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, have completed at least 24 credits, and have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay) for either the indoor or outdoor season.
Greenwood became the first USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete in program history last year, and she repeats after recording the eighth fastest 400m hurdle time, a school record 59.53, in Division II this season.
She was also a part of the outdoor 4x400m relay team, along with
Nyoki Jones (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder), Salkey and Le Maitre, that set a provisional, a school record 3:49.03, to earn Salkey the accolade.
Le Maitre received the distinction via both the relay and setting a provisional, a school record 2:11.70, in the outdoor 800m.
