How it Happened
Game One
- An error aided GCU not only advancing the first runner into scoring position in the contest in the third, but in opening the scoring on a two-RBI single with two outs
- It would have been 0-3 if not for left fielder Hagy, third baseman Grubb and catcher Letizia executing a relay that cut down a Lion at the plate for the third out
- Patterson then stranded the bases loaded in the fourth, and the HFU offense awoke to tie the game in the fifth after Letizia led off with a double
- Following the first out, three consecutive singles by Hobel, Grubb and Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) made it 2-2
- Each team had a runner reach scoring position once until a walk off homer with one out in the eighth, with the Tigers doing so in the seventh after a leadoff single by Letizia and sacrifice bunt with one out
- Patterson faced the minimum in both the sixth and seventh prior to the home run
Game Two
- Grubb led off the game with a walk, leading to HFU's first advantage of the afternoon following a sacrifice bunt by Jones and Hagy's two-out single
- It took just two batters for GCU to equalize in the second thanks to back-to-back singles and an error
- The Tigers came right back in the third through Grubb and Hagy though, as Grubb led off with a single before later coming around on Hagy's RBI groundout
- Tidaback worked a scoreless third and Ciasullo took over from there, retiring nine of the first 10 she faced with 1-2-3 frames in the fourth and sixth
- Holy Family could not add to lead and it paid the price when a leadoff error in the bottom of the seventh led to two unearned runs
