Women’s Lacrosse Plays at CACC Leader Dominican on Friday Night

HILLBURN, N.Y. – The HFU women's lacrosse team was tied with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader Dominican midway through the second period before the Chargers closed the half with the final four goals en route to an 8-18 win on Friday night.  
 
Individual Highlights
  • Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) led all players with nine draw controls to move into ninth in program history with 123 for her career 
  • Wolstenholme also matched Paige Affet (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower Catholic) with team-highs of three ground balls and two goals, new season-bests for the latter
  • Payton Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) led the Tigers with three caused turnovers
  • Emma Hurley's (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) 12 saves were here second most of the season
  • Lynn Hardy's (Audubon, N.J./Camden Catholic) four draw controls were the match's second highest total
  • Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional (RCBC)) and Rachael Sepcic (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville (Georgian Court/Rowan)) both had a goal and an assist
    • Santucci's assist moved her into a tie for eighth in program history with 28

  • HFU won the draw control battle 15-12 and set a new a season-bests with four free-position goals, with Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) and Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower) joining Santucci and Wolstenholme in netting one
 
How it Happened 
  • Shields scored her free-position goal 1:44 into the action, only for Dominican come back with the next three to go up 1-3 with 4:59 remaining in the first 
  • Affet and Sepcic netted in the final 2:54 of the period to knot the match up after 15 minutes of play
  • Holy Family also answered two Chargers goals to begin the second, with Affet and Santucci scoring 1:31 apart to tie it up again, 5-5, with 8:30 left in the first half
  • Dominican took control with the final four goals of the second, over 7:05, to go up 5-9 three seconds before the halftime buzzer
  • Wolstenholme netted her free-possession attempt to pull the Tigers within three midway through the third, but the Chargers would score eight in a row to complete a 1-12 surge
