CACC Power Georgian Court Pulls Away From Women’s Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA – The HFU women's lacrosse team opened the scoring and cut a four-goal deficit to one, before five-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champion Georgian Court pulled away for a 6-17 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday night at Tiger Field. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Lynn Hardy (Audubon, N.J./Camden Catholic) (7), Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional (RCBC)) (6) and Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) (6) had the match's three highest draw control totals
  • Payton Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) led Holy Family with four ground balls, while matching Hardy with a team-high two caused turnovers
  • Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) recorded her fifth consecutive hat trick, with Santucci adding two goals and Wolstenholme dishing out two assists
  • Santucci is now seventh in program history in points (144), draw controls (140) and goals (117)
  • Emma Hurley (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) made nine saves and tied Hardy for second most ground balls on the team with three

  • The Tigers had twice as many draw controls as the Lions, 19-8, for its second highest total of the season
 
How it Happened 
  • It took Shields just 34 second to put HFU ahead, only to have GCU respond with five unanswered, including the final four of the first quarter
  • The two teams alternated scores in the second, with goals by Shileds and Rachael Sepcic (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville (Georgian Court/Rowan)) cutting the deficit to 2-5 and eventually 3-6 entering the half
  • Santucci began the third with back-to-back scores just 16 seconds apart, the second one coming making it a one-goal game, 5-6, with 13:39 on the clock
  • The Tigers had an opportunity to tie the score on a free-position shot just over two minutes later, but failed to do so as the Lions scored 11 of the final 12 goals on the night
