WATERBURY, Conn. – The HFU women's lacrosse team outscored Post 7-2 in the first quarter en route to defeating the Eagles 19-11 in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Saturday afternoon.
Individual Highlights
- Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) had double the amount of goals as any other player with eight, tying a career-high, and she added an assist for a career-best nine points
- She also tied Paige Affet (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower Catholic) with a match-high two caused turnovers
- Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional (RCBC)) had the match's second highest totals with four goals and six points to move into eighth in program history with 142 career points
- Lynn Hardy (Audubon, N.J./Camden Catholic) also had six points, a new career-best, while her six draw controls trailed only Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's)n's nine
- Hardy now ranks third in program history with 185 career draw controls
- Wolstenholme's nine draw controls were a new season-high
- Rachael Sepcic (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville (Georgian Court/Rowan)) recorded her second hat trick of the season, while Tatceyana Pulley (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City) tallied three assists to move into a tie for eighth in program history with 28 for her career
- Imani Hopkins (Baltimore, Md./Carver Center for Arts & Technology) matched Santucci, Hardy, Wolstenholme and Affet with a team-high two ground balls
- Emma Hurley (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) made six saves for her second win of the season

- Holy Family had more than double the amount of draw controls as Post, 22-10, while outshooting the Eagles 41-25 and converting 13-of-14 clears
How it Happened
- Both teams scored in the opening 1:59, before HFU pulled away with six consecutive goals in less than nine minutes that featured Santucci netting twice
- Her second closed the run to put the Tigers ahead six, although Post did close out the first quarter scoring to make it 7-2
- Shields then netted twice in the first six minutes of the second for a seven-goal lead, which was only trimmed to five when the Eagles scored a second in a row 4:41 ahead of the break
- Holy Family had an immediate response via Santucci 41 seconds later though, and Shields closed out the second period scoring for another seven-goal cushion at the half
- Pulley then scored the first goal of third quarter as Post was never able to get closer than seven
- Back-to-back tallies by Sepcic 29 seconds apart highlighted three unanswered over 37 seconds for the first double-digit advantage, 16-6, with 4:59 to go in the third
