Late Second Quarter Run Helps Extend Women’s Basketball’s Win Streak to Double Digits for First Time in Over 10 Years

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – A 15-0 run to end the second quarter led to an eventual 75-57 victory for the HFU women's basketball team at Dominican on Saturday afternoon, extending the Tigers' win streak to 10 for the first time since January and February of 2013.
 
Individual Highlights
  • Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) led four Tigers in double-figures with a season-high 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting off the bench
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area), Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) and Carly Bolivar (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka (Alliance)) all scored 10 points
    • Searfoss and Dougherty led all players with nine rebounds each, a career-best for the latter, with Searfoss adding a game-high six assists
    • Bolivar led all players with three steals
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) and Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) contributed eight and seven points, respectively, with each grabbing five boards
  • Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) had six points, four rebounds and a season-best four assists
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Holy Family had mor than double the number of rebounds as Dominican, 53-25, for a new season-high
  • The Tigers' bench outscored the Chargers' 41-15
 
How it Happened
  • Outside a 25-second stretch in which Dominican led 2-6, the entirety of the first period was played within a single possession at it ended with the two teams tied at 15
  • It was still a single-possession game, 25-22, when DC made a 3-pointer with 5:48 remaining in the half, and the cushion was 29-24 following a Chargers' basket with 4:40 showing
  • Holy Family made its move from there, outscoring Dominican 15-0 over the final 3:50 beginning with a Searfoss layup
  • Kokolus followed with a layup of her own, before the first of back-to-back buckets by Bolivar extended the advantage to double-digits for good 2:34 ahead of the break
  • After Kokolus scored her sank her second basket of the run, Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) got in on the action with a trifecta 
  • Bolivar, who scored or assisted on the final 11 points of the quarter, then made it a 20-point lead, 44-24, entering the locker room with her sixth point of the half-ending run
  • The closest the Chargers got during the second half, 72-57, did not come until the 1:21 mark of the fourth quarter
