Volleyball Storms Back to Defeat Felician

PHILADELPHIA – After dropping the first set, the HFU volleyball team stormed back to take the next three (25-21, 25-22, 25-13) and defeat Felician on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Holy Family had four of the five-highest kill totals, with Shelby Kinzer's (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) match-best 16 on .355 hitting leading the way
  • Jayden Bralts (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) (.333 hitting) and Natasha Yanief (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) (.375 hitting) both tied career-highs with 12 and 11, respectively, with Bralts adding a season-best 11 digs for her first career double-double
  • Those 11 digs were one shy of the team-high set by Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood), who led all players with 42 assists for her first double-double of the season
  • Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)) added eight kills and a match-best five blocks, which tied a season-high
  • Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) made it three Tigers with double-digit digs, and she led all players with four aces
  • Keira Rogan (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) added three aces for a new season-best

  • HFU registered season-bests of 54 kills and 10 block assists, while the Tigers' .282 hitting percentage was its second-highest
  • Holy Family had triple the amount of aces, 9-3

First Set (17-25)
  • Felician broke a 12-12 with a a 1-7 surge to go ahead 0-1
Second Set (25-21)
  • Trailing 16-18, Kinzer posted back-to-back-back kills to begin a set-ending 9-3 flurry the featured four Kinzer kills 
Third Set (25-22)
  • The Tigers opened the set with three straight kills, two of which were by Kinzer, and led by multiple points the rest of the way
Fourth Set (25-13)
  • Holy Family responded to its only deficit, 3-4, with an 8-1 run that featured two points from both Kinzer and Kidd

The Tigers stay within the city for its next match, traveling to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader Jefferson on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. start.
