PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University volleyball team won the second set and was tied late into the third, but Chestnut Hill pulled away down the stretch for an eventual 1-3 victory over the Tigers at the Campus Center on Tuesday night.
Individual Highlights
- Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)) tied a match-high with three blocks, while finishing second on HFU with eight kills
- Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) had the match's second-highest total with 15 kills and added a season-best 15 digs for her third career double-double
- Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) and Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) also posted the second-highest totals of the match, leading the Tigers with 29 assists and 17 digs
- Steck added nine digs to fall one shy of her first double-double of the year, while Boylan tied a career-best with five assists
- Natasha Yanief (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and Ashley Petrasovic (Queens, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy Memorial) provided six kills apiece
How it Happened
First Set (18-25)
- Holy Family led by as many as five twice early, including at 11-6 on a Yanief kill, but CHC scored five in a row to begin what eventually turned into a 2-13 flurry
Second Set (25-22)
- Trailing 15-17, Kinzer tallied three points as part of six unanswered, including two aces, that ended with a Petrasovic kill
Third Set (21-25)
- Down 11-16, Yanief had two kills as part of a 6-1 surge to tie it at 17
- There were three more ties down the stretch, including at 21, but the Griffins took the final four points of the set
Fourth Set (15-25)
- Chestnut Hill scored the first five and led throughout
