PHILADELPHIA – Despite holding a 21-14 advantage in attempts, a 75th minute goal was the difference in HFU men's soccer's 0-1 loss to Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday evening at Tiger Field.
HFU had the bulk of the chances in the first half when it outshot the Lightning 14-4.
Lautaro Berisso (La Plata, Argentina/) had two headers saved in the opening 19 and half minutes, and
Sean Touey (Rockledge, Pa./Abington) had three attempts in three and half minute span, including one being stopped in the 31st.
Hunter Bell (Delran, N.J./Life Center Academy) also had a header saved, in the 36th, and both teams had an opportunity in the final minute with
Kerin St. Clair Jr. (Union, N.J./Union) missing just wide and
Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) making his second stop in the final seconds.
Both teams worked the keeper in the opening 15 minutes of the second, with Berisso again denied, and
Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) then had a header saved from a
Tajhay Williams (Yallahs, Jamaica/Clarendon College) corner in the 63rd.
In the 75th, Shank made an initial stop only for the rebound to be headed in at the line.
Despite pushing, Holy Family was not able to threaten down the stretch.
Berisso and Rowan had the match's two highest totals with five and four shots, respectively, while Touey and
Thiago Lage (Minas Gerais, Brazil/Abington) both had three.
