Holy Family University student athletes claimed both of the East Coast Conference's (ECC) Men's Track & Field weekly awards, the league offices announced on Monday.
Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) repeated as the ECC Field Athlete of the Week, while
Kouto Anyika (Philadelphia, Pa./Pennwood) claimed his first career ECC Track Athlete of the Week honor.
One week after setting an NCAA Provisional in the high jump, Pierre did so in the triple jump as his mark of 14.80m broke the school record set by teammate Robbie Robertson earlier this season. Placing second in the field of 20, it was the longest jump in the ECC this season, as well as the 17 longest in all of Division II.
Anyika narrowly missed out on two school records and NCAA Provisionals, first placing second out of 62 in the 400m with a time of 49.44 that moved him atop the ECC, while falling .05 short of the school record and less than a second shy of an NCAA provisional.
The freshman then ran a collegiate PR 22.28 in the 200m for the 10th-fastest time out of 66 entries, clocking .02 seconds behind the school record and again less than a second away from an NCAA provisional.
