STATEN ISLAND – Clearing 2.18m in the high jump, Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) broke his own Grenadian National Indoor Record, while also tying the Ocean Breeze College Facility Record, in HFU men's track & field's 2023 debut on Friday. 
 
Setting an NCAA provisional, Pierre topped the field of 23 with the second-highest clearance in Division II this season, as well as the fourth-highest in all of the NCAA.  
 

• Skyler Salay (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) also posted a top-five finish in the high jump, clearing 1.93m, while Javon Bowen (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) (1.88m) joined them in the top 10 and Terrence Jones (East Orange, N.J./William Allen/LCTI) cleared a new collegiate personal record (PR) of 1.83m 
• All five Tigers to compete in the long jump marked in the top-15 of the field of 40, highlighted by Bowen (7.01m) and Pierre (collegiate PR 6.81m) placing second and third
  • Salay (collegiate PR 6.35m) joined them in the top-10, with Nafis Zollicoffer (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway West) (6.33m) also setting a collegiate PR and Jones landing at 6.27m
• Jones ran a collegiate PR 8.40 in 60m hurdles to place second in the field of 22
• Nadir Paige (Pennsauken, N.j/Pennsauken) (7.16), Luckie Tan (Delaware County, Pa./Penn Wood) (7.18), Kouto Anyika (Philadelphia, Pa./Pennwood) (7.19) and Bowen (7.23) all finished in the top-third of the field of 82 in the 60m
• Anyika ran a 22.68 in the 200m for the 10th-fastest time out of 78 entries, with Paige (23.12), Zollicoffer (23.31) and Tan (23.76) all joining him in the top-half of the field
  • Jones (23.99) clocked yet another collegiate PR
• Brian Dietz (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) registered the fourth-fastest time, 1:08.04, amongst 26 entries in the 500m, with Ibrahim Forana (Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) (1:10.15), Jade Acevedo (Bronx, N.Y./Mount Saint Michael Academy) (collegiate PR 1:10.22) and Matthew Davis (Bloomfield, Conn./Bloomfield) (1:10.71) joining him in the top-half of the field
  • Giovanni Griffin (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) set a collegiate PR (1:11.91) in the event
• Tyler Wesley (Hartford, Conn./Bloomfield) (2:03.98) crossed in the top-half of the field of 39 in the 800m, while Zaheer Owens (Pleasantview, N.J./ACIT) (12.72m) marked in the top-half of the field of 24 in the triple jump
• Shymir Harris (Philadelphia, Pa./Academy at Palumbo) marked at a collegiate PR 10.70m in the shot put
• Matthew Davis (Bloomfield, Conn./Bloomfield), Wesley, Griffins and Miguel Sanchez (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville) combined to complete the 4x400m in an HFU season-best 3:37.10
