PHILADELPHIA – The HFU women's basketball team outscored Saint Anselm 19-6 in the second quarter, building a lead it would have no problem holding onto in an eventual 72-57 victory over the Hawks, the Tigers' seven straight, on Tuesday evening at the Campus Center.
The seven-game win streak is tied for Holy Family's longest since the beginning of the 2016-17 season.
Individual Highlights
- Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) led all players with 19 points on 9-of 13 shooting in just 21 minutes, while also finishing with seven rebounds for the game's second-highest total
- Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) pulled down a game-high nine boards, one shy of a career-best, while also matching Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) with a game-high five assists to set a new career-best
- Searfoss, who made 4-of-6 field goals, added 12 points
- Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) finished with 14 points, the game's second-highest total, to go along with six rebounds and a game-high three steals
- Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) had six boards too, while also chipping in with eight points

How it Happened
First Quarter
- Aside from a momentary tie at 2-2, HFU led throughout after scoring 11 of the first 13 points, with Jenn Kokolus' (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) layup putting the Tigers up 11-2 with 3:39 left in the opening period
- Holy Family held Saint Anselm scoreless for 5:05 following its opening basket, but the Hawks closed the first on a 2-7 surge for a 13-9 score-line after 10 minutes of play
Second Quarter
- Saint Anselm would then get as close as two with the first basket of the second, only to go scoreless for 4:11 as HFU began to pull away with nine unanswered
- Prevost and Morrow combined for all nine, with Morrow's layup establishing the first double-digit lead, 22-11, with 5:34 showing
- The Hawks momentarily cut the deficit back to nine, but Lindsay Tretter's (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) 3-pointer 3:20 ahead of the break made it a double-digit cushion for good
- Moore jumpers sandwiched a SAC free throw, before Kokolus' three-point play stretched the advantage to 32-14 with 28 seconds on the clock
- The Hawks would sink a foul shot to make it a 17-point game entering the locker room
Second Half
- Holy family scored seven of the first nine points of the third period for the first of four game-high 22-point leads, 39-17, on yet another Tretter triple 3:37 into the second half
- Two Moore free throws gave the Tigers their final 22-point advantage, 48-26, 1:12 ahead of the final quarter
- Saint Anselm pulled within 11 thrice in the fourth, but each time HFU had a response to keep the cushion in double-digits
