Men’s Soccer Defeated 1-0 by Unbeaten Bloomsburg

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's soccer team could not overcome a 20th minute Bloomsburg goal in a 1-0 loss to the unbeaten Huskies on Wednesday night at Tiger Field.

  • The Huskies had the slight advantage in shot on goal, 4-3

How it Happened 
First Half
  • After Bloomsburg had the first the first two attempts, both off target, Dakota Taylor (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) forced the first save of the evening on a free kick in the 11th minute
  • Sean Touey (Rockledge, Pa./Abington) had HFU's best chance just over seven and a half minutes later when Taylor found him on top right of the box, but his shot went high  
  • The Huskies found the net just under a minute and a half later
  • The next attempt following the goal did not come until Taylor shot wide in the 36th
  • After Bloomsburg forced back-to-back saves by Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) six minutes ahead of the break, Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) forced a stop in the final minute
Second Half
  • Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) sent a dangerous cross across the six-yard box in the 54th minute
  • Rowan and Richmond then had off-target efforts one minute apart in the 57th and 58th
  • Holy Family's lone shot on goal in the half came from Touey in the 64th 
  • Joseph Amabile (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) sent in a dangerous cross to no avail five minutes later
  • Nicolloyd Dinham (Manchester, Jamaica/(ASA)) and Eric Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) kept the score at 1-0 thanks to their defensive efforts inside the box in the 79th minute
  • One minute later Williams set up Touey for a header that went high
  • The Tigers' last shot, which was blocked, came from a Will Stackhouse (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) free kick in the 83rd 
  • Shank made his lone save of the half in the 86th
