Two Second Half Goals Lift Defending Regular Season Champion Post Past Men’s Soccer in CACC Opener

WATERBURY, Conn. – Deadlocked with defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season champion Post through 60 minutes, the Eagles scored twice in the final half hour to defeat HFU men's soccer in the two teams' league-opener on Saturday afternoon.

  • Dakota Taylor (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Lautaro Berisso (La Plata, Argentina/(Camden County CC)) tied a match-high with two shots on goal
  • Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) made a season-best seven saves
  • Post held the slight 3-2 advantage in shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes
 
How it Happened 
First Half
  • Both teams had a headed effort in the opening 10 minutes, with Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) heading wide 4:19 in before Shank made the afternoon's first stop in the 10th 
  • Taylor had the Tigers' first shot on frame in the 22nd minute
  • Holy Family had the next attempt too, with Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) also forcing a save in the 33rd 
  • The Eagles had the final three shots of the half, which included a Shank stop right at the horn
Second Half
  • Both of Berisso's attempts on goal came in the opening 5:23
  • Post rattled off the next six attempts in a span of five and a half minutes, with the penultimate one finding the back of the net just after the hour mark
  • Holy Family's final shot came in the 65th minute on Taylor's second attempt on frame
  • Shank made saves in the 73rd and 76th to keep the Tigers within striking distance
