PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University volleyball team swept Georgian Court (25-20, 25-13, 25-21) for its fourth consecutive win on Tuesday evening at the Campus Center.
Individual Highlights
- Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) had more than double the amount of assists as any other player with 32, and she added a team-high 13 digs for her second straight double-double and fifth this season
- The sophomore also tied a career-best with three blocks
- Mainerys Munoz (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) had the double the amount of aces as any other player with a season-high four
- Isabella Mosquera (West Chicago, Ill./Saint Charles East) led all players with five blocks, and she was second on the Tigers with eight kills on .353 hitting and two aces
- Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) was the only player in double-figures for kills with 11, the third time in four matches that she has reached double-digit kills
- Faith Zehnder (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) was second on the Tigers with nine digs, five assists and two aces
- Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) contributed seven kills while swinging .313
- Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) had three blocks to finish the night tied for ninth in program history with 166 for her career
Inside the Box
- Holy Family limited GCU to just .022 hitting, the second-lowest by a Tigers opponent this season
- HFU had a .235 hitting percentage with 17 more kills, 38-21
- The Tigers had four times the amount of blocks as the Lions, 8-2, and more than double the amount of assists, 38-18
- Holy Family tied a season-best with four block solos, while its 11 service aces and eight blocks were both one shy of season-best
How it Happened
First Set
- HFU faced its largest deficit of the evening at 8-5, only to respond with 7-1 surge that included three points from Mosquera and two Munoz aces
- Georgian Court battled back to tie twice, including at 17-17, but the Lions could never regain the lead as a Hartney kill put the Tigers on top for good
- When Georgian Court got as close as 18-19, a Mosquera block sparked four unanswered that also included a Krause kill
Second Set
- The Tigers scored the first three, and six of the first seven, points en route to leading throughout
- Munoz had two aces in the opening three points, and both Kinzer and Osenkarski had back-to-back kills in an opening 8-2 run, with back-to-back Kinzer points also making the score 10-3
- The lead reached as high as 14, 18-4, when Steck and Mosquera combined for a block
Third Set
- Holy Family took control with a run of five straight points, the final three of which were scored by Mosquera for a 19-10 advantage
- The Lions staved off six match-points before Kinzer final ended the sweep with a kill
