Women’s Soccer Held to Draw by Georgian Court

PHIADELPHIA – Despite outshooting Georgian Court 25-15, the HFU women's soccer team could not break through for a goal in a 0-0 draw with the Lions on Wednesday evening at Tiger Field.

  • The Tigers outshot Georgian Court 11-2 in the opening 45 minutes, before holding a slight 14-13 advantage in the second half
  • Holy Family had a 10-6 edge in both shots on goal and corners
  • Allison Loper (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy (Georgian Court)) and Maddie Maguire (Sewell, N.J./Nazareth Academy (Rider)) tied a match-high with five attempts each, with Maguire leading all players with three shots on net
  • HFU's 25 attempts and 10 shots on net were its second-highest totals of the season

How it Happened 
First Half
  • Holy Family had the first four, and seven of the first eight, attempts in the opening 23:14, with the 16th minute featuring Maguire registering the first shot on net and Kilkenny hitting the crossbar
  • Pudlo made her lone stop of the opening 45 minutes just over a minute later 
  • The Tigers also had the last five attempts of the period, two of which were by Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) including an attempt on net 10 minutes prior to the break 
 
Second Half
  • Georgian Court tested Pudlo less than two and a half minutes in
  • After another Lions shot just over two minutes later, HFU had the next seven attempts, including Gianna Monaco (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Maguire being denied 22 seconds apart in the 53rd 
  • Hannah Florentino (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) was also rejected in the 58th minute in the flurry
  • Dangerous crosses from both Maguire and Brynn Hess (Benton, Pa./Benton) led to a stretch of two corners and three shots in the span 1:20 in the 66th and 67th
  • Both teams forced saves one and a half minutes part in the 71st and 72nd, the latter of which came off the foot of Maguire
  • Kilkenny blocked two attempts in the 73rd minute
  • Holy Family's final two shots were both saved; first by Loper in the 84th and then by Hess just over two minutes later
  • Pudlo was forced into two saves 50 seconds apart in the 88th
  • Georgian Court had two attempts blocked in the final minute
