WILMINGTON, Del. – The Holy Family University volleyball team began its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season title defense with a sweep of Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday night.
Individual Highlights
- Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) led all players with five block assists to move into eighth in program history with 127 for her career
- Natasha Yanief (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) posted a match-high with nine kills, one shy of a career-best, on .412 hitting, while also adding a career-high three blocks
- Isabella Mosquera (West Chicago, Ill./Saint Charles East) and Zoe Krause (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) both added seven kills, while swinging a match-best .667 and .400, respectively
- Ashley Petrasovic (Queens, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy Memorial) and Mainerys Munoz (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) led all players with four aces each, a career-high for the former and season-best for the latter
- Munoz also paced the Tigers with nine digs, one ahead of Faith Zehnder (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood), while Petrasovic set a new career-high with six
- Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) had a match-best 28 assists
Inside the Box
- Holy Family doubled up Goldey-Beacom in kills (35-17), assists (35-15) and service aces (12-2)
- The 12 service aces were a new season-high, while the Tigers also matched a season-best with 10 block assists
- HFU limited the Lightning to -.051 hitting, while swinging .262
How it Happened
First Set
- Holy Family responded to an early deficit, 1-2, with four unanswered to establish a multi-point advantage for good
- Goldey-Beacom got as close as 10-8, but back-to-back Krause kills capped three straight points
Second Set
- Holy Family scored the first two points and led throughout, with Mosquera recording two kills in an opening 5-1 run
- Later, Yanief played a part in three points of a 9-1 stretch that established a 16-6 advantage
Third Set
- Holy Family found itself down as many as three early, 6-9, but three consecutive Munoz aces to make the score 12-10 was part of six unanswered that capped a 9-1 surge
- The Tigers would score the final eight points of the match, with Osenkarski playing a part in three
