Volleyball Travels to East Stroudsburg on Thursday Night

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's volleyball played its penultimate non-conference match on Thursday evening, falling at East Stroudsburg in three sets (25-14, 25-16, 25-19). 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) led all players with 21 assists
  • Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) fell one kill shy of a match-high with seven, also one shy of a season-best
  • Also leading the Tigers was Faith Zehnder (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood), who fell one dig shy of double-digits
 
Inside the Box 
  • Both teams had three block solos
  • The Warriors had four more digs, 39-35
 
How it Happened
First Set
  • Holy Family erased an early 2-5 deficit with back-to-back Kyla Sayson (Sewell, N.J./Gloucester Institute of Technology) aces tying the score at 5-5
  • A bad set also tied the score back up at 6-6, before ESU rattled off eight in a row
Second Set
  • HFU Scored the first four points, capped by back-to-back Isabella Mosquera (West Chicago, Ill./Saint Charles East) blocks, and Mosquera also had a kill as part of an opening 6-1 run
  • The Warriors responded with a 9-1 flurry of its own though, and even though the Tigers got as close as 9-10 on back-to-back kills by Mosquera and Kinzer, the Warriors established a multi-point lead for good with the next four points
Third Set
  • Holy Family momentarily took a 2-1 advantage, but ESU scored six of the next seven points
  • The Tigers got as close as 11-12 with a 4-1 stretch, but HFU cold never tie the score
