Women’s Soccer Edged by Post in CACC Opener

WATERBURY, Conn. – A goal just under four minutes into the second half turned out to be the only score in the HFU women's soccer team's 1-0 loss at Post to open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The Tigers held a 6-4 advantage in corners, while the Eagles had a slight 8-6 edge in shots on goal
  • Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) made a season-high seven saves
  • Both of Hannah Florentino's (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) shots were on net
 
How it Happened 
First Half
  • Lexi Murphy (Woolwich Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional (Saint Francis U)) had the first attempt of the afternoon, shooting wide in the 11th minute
  • That was of just five shots in first half, with Post recording the next three
    • Pudlo made the lone save of the first 45 minutes in the 23rd 
  • Maddie Maguire (Sewell, N.J./Nazareth Academy (Rider)) had HFU's other shot, which missed high, 10 seconds ahead of the break
Second Half
  • Holy Family's first shot on frame came just under a minute after Post's goal, as Gianna Monaco (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) was denied in the 51st
  • That started a stretch in which both teams had two attempts on net in just under eight minutes, with Maguire recording the Tigers' other in the 55th 
  • HFU's last three shots came just over five and a half minutes apart between the 71st and 76th minutes
    • Florentino forced saves just over two minutes apart, before Brynn Hess (Benton, Pa./Benton) had the Tigers' final attempt
