Tigers Make it Four in a Row with Sweep

BENSALEM, Pa. -  The Holy Family University softball team swept Chestnut Hill College in conference play Monday.  The wins make it four in a row for the Tigers.  Senior Ashley Remington (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) recorded a five inning, no-hit shutout on the day.

How It Happened (Game 1)
 
* Holy Family started game one off plating three in the bottom of the first which included a two-run shot from freshman Sam Ciasullo (Springfield, Pa./Springfield).
 
* Two more runs came in the second this time from RBI hits from Remington and senior Abigail Smith (Elkton, Md./Red Lion Christian Academy).
* The Tigers scored their final three runs in the fourth with freshmen Emma Clayborne (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) and Lauren Hagy (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) recording RBIs.  Chestnut Hill was not able to score any runs in the fifth ending the game early.
 
Inside the Box Score (Game 1)
 
* Remington struck out nine in the outing while only walking one.
 
* Holy Family totaled eight hits as a team with Clayborne leading all hitters with two.
 
 * Griffin Madison Petroski recorded the loss  allowing five earned runs off of eight hits.  She struck out two.


How It Happened (Game 2)
 
* Holy Family struck early again in game two scoring two off another two-run bomb from Ciasullo.  They tacked on another in the third to make it 3-0, this time from an RBI single from junior Devyn Dydak (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy).
 
* Chestnut Hill's Victoria Grillo put her team on the board with an RBI single in the fifth.  The Tigers responded right away in the bottom of the inning when Clayborne sent a shot to right center making it 4-1.
 
* After scoring on a wild pitch in the sixth, Holy Family went into the top of the seventh up 5-1. The Griffins threatened, scoring off an error and then an RBI single from Grillo to pull within two.  The Tigers' defense settled and recorded the final outs to seal the victory.
 

Inside the Box Score (Game 2)
 
* Ciasullo recorded the win going five innings allowing only one earned run while striking out five.  Freshman Jalecia Blackston (Levittown, Pa./Bucks County Technical) came in for two-innings of relief allowing two earned runs off of three hits while striking out two.
 
* Holy Family totaled 12 hits with Clayborne going a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs.  Dydak, senior Elaina Hansen (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) and junior Maria Leedom (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy (Shippensburg)) each recorded two hits on the day.
 
* Lily Reid recorded the loss in the circle allowing four earned runs off 12 hits.  She struck out three.
 
* Grillo led the Griffins with two hits and two RBI on the day.
 

All-Time Results
Today marked the 27th and 28th meetings between Holy Family and Chestnut Hill since the start of the 2008 season.  The Tigers are now 22-6 versus the Griffins in the all-time series.

Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday when they host University of the Sciences for a conference doubleheader.  First game is slated for 12 p.m.
