Tigers Drop Conference Opener to City Rival Rams



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped its conference opener to city rival Thomas Jefferson University by the score of 19-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Tuesday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.

How It Happened
 
* Jefferson scored four first-quarter goals, including two by Erin Avanzato, while the defense held Holy Family scoreless in the opening quarter. 
 
* The Rams opened the second quarter with a goal by Madison Caffrey to make the score 5-0.  Holy Family finally got on the board at the 11:32 mark when senior Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional (RCBC)) connected on the first of her two second quarter goals.  Santucci scored again with 6:34 remaining in the quarter to make it a 6-2 game.  Jefferson tacked on one more score in the quarter to lead 7-2 at halftime.
 
* In the third quarter, Jefferson scored four straight goals to increase its lead to 11-2. 
 
* The Tigers broke the Rams run when junior Madeline Curran (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored at the 5:15 mark.  Holy Family also received a goal from junior Lynn Hardy (Audubon, N.J./Camden Catholic) in the final two minutes of the quarter.
 
* Jefferson went on to score six more goals in the fourth quarter.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Santucci led the Tigers with two goals in the game to go along with a caused turnover on defense. 
 
* Sophomore Imani Hopkins (Baltimore, Md./Carver Center for Arts & Technology) recorded a career-high five ground balls and tied her career-high with two caused turnovers.
 
* Sophomore Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) also tied a career-high on defense as she was credited with three caused turnovers.  Wolstenholme also picked up two ground balls.
 
* Hardy led the team with six draw controls to go along with her third quarter goal.  She also caused a pair of turnovers. 
 
* Junior goalkeeper Caitlyn Musick (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) tied her career-high with 17 saves in net.
 
* For Jefferson, Carina Raymond scored a game-high six goals, while Ellie Lefton recorded a game-high 10 points.  Lefton finished the game with two goals and eight assists.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 24th meeting between Holy Family and Jefferson since the start of the 2009 season.  The Tigers are now 6-18 versus the Rams in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, March 26 as the Tigers host Dominican College in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 12 p.m. at New Tiger Field.
