Tigers Fall to Lions in Non-Conference Action



Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Holy Family University dropped a non-conference contest on the road against Molly College by the score of 14-8 on Saturday afternoon at RVC Sports Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Molloy scored the game's first goal early on in the first quarter.  The score remained 1-0 in favor of the home team until senior Yasmine Machlof (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) tied the game at 1-1 with her first goal of the year with 3:22 to play in the opening quarter.  However, Molloy tallied a pair of goals in the final :67 seconds to lead 3-1 after the first 15 minutes.
 
* Momentum carried over into the second quarter as the Lions scored three straight goals to take a 6-1 lead by the 11:01 mark. 
 
* The Tigers scored four straight goals in a four-minute span in the second quarter to come within one goal of the Lions' lead at 6-5.  Senior Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional (RCBC)) scored three of the team's four goals, including back-to-back scores within five seconds of one another.  After scoring at the 9:24 mark, Santucci won the ensuing draw and raced towards the net to fire her second goals in five seconds.
 
* Molloy tacked on a goal late in the quarter to take a 7-5 lead into halftime.
 
* In the second half, Molloy never gave the Tigers a chance to come closer than three goals of it leads.  Holy Family made the score 11-8 when freshman Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) scored her third goal of the second half midway through the fourth quarter.  The Lions responded scoring the games' final three goals, while holding the Tigers scoreless the final 7:24 of the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Shields tallied a season-high four goals to lead the Tigers' offense.  Santucci finished with three goals and one assist for four points.  She also recorded three ground balls.
 
* Junior Lynn Hardy (Audubon, N.J./Camden Catholic) led the team with two caused turnovers on defense to go along with a couple ground balls.
 
* Junior Caitlyn Musick (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) finished the game with a career-high 17 saves after facing 39 shots by the Lions.
 
* For Molloy, Amanda Weber recorded a game-high five points on four goals and one assist.  Hailey Dazzo finished the game with three goals.
 
All-Time Series
Saturday marked the eighth meeting between Holy Family and Molloy since the start of the 2009 season.  The Lions hold an 8-0 record in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, March 2 when the Tigers head to Millersville University for another non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
