Tigers Overpower Lightning, 76-37



Philadelphia, Pa. – Sophomores Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) and Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) each scored 17 points as the Holy Family University women's basketball team defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 76-37, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family scored the game's first 14 points of the game and never looked back.  The Tigers' defense held Goldey-Beacom College without a field goal for almost the first six minutes of the opening quarter.  The Tigers finished the first 10 minutes of the game with a 25-10 advantage.
 
* The Tigers swelled their lead to as many as 26 points in the opening half when freshman Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) converted a pair of free throws to make the score 38-12 at the 4:48 mark.  Holy Family went on to hold a 26-point advantage entering the locker rooms at halftime at 41-15.
 
* Holy Family's biggest lead of the game came late in the fourth quarter when the Tigers led by 43 points.  A layup by Tretter gave the Tigers a 76-33 lead with 3:19 left in regulation.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Prevost recorded her first career double-double as she tied her career-high with 17 points (8-12 FG) while grabbing a career-high 10 boards to lead the team.  Tretter also finished with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-5 from deep range to go along with five boards and five assists.  Prevost and Tretter nearly outscored Goldey-Beacom together as the duo combined for 34 points. 
 
* Riepe also scored in double-figures as she totaled 11 points and four rebounds.
 
* Sophomore Taylor Cotter (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) finished the night with nine points (4-4 FG) and six rebounds, while freshman Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) recorded nine points, six boards and four assists.
 
* The team's 39-point margin of victory tied a season-high for the Tigers.  Earlier this month, Holy Family defeated Wilmington University by 39 points (W, 73-34).
 
* For Goldey-Beacom, Briana Seltzer finished with a team-high 10 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 42nd meeting between Holy Family and Goldey-Beacom since the start of the 2002-03 season. The Tigers are now 34-7 versus the Lightning in the all-time series.
 
Postseason Picture
After tonight's victory the Tigers improve to 9-8 in conference play with one game to play in the regular season.  The Tigers are currently tied for the fourth and final postseason spot in the South Division with Georgian Court University.  The Lions defeated Chestnut Hill College tonight to also improve to 9-8.  Holy Family can only clinch the final postseason spot with a win over Thomas Jefferson University in its regular season finale on Saturday combined with a Georgian Court loss in its final regular season game versus Wilmington tomorrow evening.
 
Next Up
Holy Family wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 26 as the Tigers host city rival Jefferson.  Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Campus Center.  Prior to the game, the Tigers will recognize senior Megan O'Connell (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) in part of Senior Day festivities.
