Tigers Cruise Past Warriors, 74-49



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team came up with a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over visiting Nyack College by the score of 74-49 on Monday evening at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The win improves the Tigers' conference record to 8-8 and a tie for fourth place in the CACC South Division with Georgian Court University with two games to go in the regular season.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family trailed 13-8 after the first quarter but the momentum shifted in the second frame as the Tigers outscored the Warriors 25-10.  Holy Family shot 10-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-5 from deep range in the quarter.  Junior Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led the team with nine points (4-4 FG), while sophomore Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) tallied seven points (3-3 FG) and sophomore Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added six points (2-4 FG).
 
* Holy Family closed out the final 3:37 minutes of the second quarter on an 8-0 run to lead 33-23 at the half. 
 
* In the third quarter the Tigers opened with a 12-4 run to lead 45-27 at the 4:57 mark.  A three-pointer by Tretter gave the Tigers an 18-point advantage.  Holy Family would lead by as many as 26 points (59-33) in the quarter after sophomore Taylor Cotter (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) scored a layup that capped an 11-0 run. 
 
* Holy Family's biggest lead of the game came early in the fourth quarter after a three-pointer by freshman Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) made the score 62-35.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Holy Family had three players score in double-figures.  Tretter led the team with a game-high 14 points as she knocked down 4-of-6 from deep range in the game.  Riepe finished with 13 points; one shy of her career-high.  She also grabbed five rebounds.  Prevost added 11 points to go along with seven rebounds.
 
* Senior Megan O'Connell (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) filled the box score with seven points, six rebounds and a team-high five assists.  She also had a team-high three steals on defense. Junior Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) also had five assists on the night to go along with nine points and seven rebounds.
 
* Junior Jada Saeger (Walnutport, Pa./Northern Lehigh) totaled nine points and a career-high eight rebounds.  Cotter also had a career night on the boards as she led the team with 10 while scoring six points.  Freshman Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) had seven rebounds and five points in the game.
 
For Nyack, Carly Bolivar finished with a team-high 13 points, while Sarah Wilson and Amani Levitan each totaled 11 points.  Mariah Witts finished with a game-high 13 points to go along with six points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 25th meeting between Holy Family and Nyack since the start of the 2002-03 season.  The Tigers are now 23-2 versus the Warriors in that span. The Tigers have won the last seven meetings in the series.
 
Postseason Picture
Holy Family is currently tied with Georgian Court for the fourth and final postseason spot in the CACC South Division.  Both the Tigers and Lions are 8-8 in conference play with two games to play in the regular season. 
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 23 as the Tigers host Goldey-Beacom College in CACC action.  Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
