Tigers Fall to City Rival Devils, 61-51



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team fell short versus city rival University of the Sciences, 61-51, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday afternoon at Robert Morgan Arena.

How It Happened
 
* Trailing 44-38 entering the fourth quarter, the Devils opened the final frame with a 14-0 run to turn a six-point deficit into an eight-point advantage. 
 
* USciences led 52-44 at the 2:40 mark and held Holy Family scoreless until sophomore Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 52-47 with 2:06 to play in regulation.
 
* In the final two minutes, the Devils converted 9-of-10 from the free throw line to hold control of the game. In the fourth period alone, the Devils went 14-of-15 from the line.  
 
*  Holy Family held the game's largest lead late in the second quarter.  Freshman Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) connected on two free throws to make the score 32-21 with less than a minute to play until halftime. The Tigers went to lead 33-25 at the half.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Sophomore Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) led the Tigers with a team-high 12 points (4-6 FG) to go along with eight rebounds; one shy of her career-high.
 
* Tretter also scored in double-figures as she added 10 points.
 
* Junior Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) finished the game with a game-high 11 rebounds and totaled a team-high three steals.
 
* Sophomore Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) added nine points and six rebounds, while senior Megan O'Connell (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) finished with seven points, three rebounds and a team-high five assists.
 
* For the Devils, Kendall Keyes recorded a game-high 14 points while converting 7-of-8 from the free throw line.  Jess Huber nearly came away with a double-double as she totaled 9 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.  Huber was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 44th meeting between Holy Family and USciences since the start of the 2002-03 season.  The Tigers are now 29-14 versus the Devils in that span.  USciences has won nine of the last 10 meetings in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Monday, Feb. 21 as the Tigers host Nyack College in a rescheduled conference contest.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The team will be raising awareness for its Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer game by wearing yellow shoe laces during the game.
