How It Happened

* Holy Family trailed by as many as 11 points midway through the first half when the Devils held a 25-14 advantage at a Tommy Gardler jumper.  Over the next 8:30 minutes the Tigers cut the deficit down to three points thanks to a 17-9 run.  A layup by David Robinson, Jr. (North Wales, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) made the score 34-31 with a minute to play until halftime. The Devils went on to lead 36-31 at the half.

* In the second half, the Tigers grabbed their first lead since leading 6-5 at the 15:35 mark of the first half.  A three-pointer by Nate Conyer (Pemberton, N.J./BCIT Medford) gave the Tigers a 44-43 advantage.  The lead would be short-lived as the Devils responded with a three of their own on the following possession to regain control of the game at 46-44 with 13:20 to play.

* USciences swelled its lead up to six at 54-48 before a 7-0 run by the Tigers gave Holy Family a 55-54 edge off a jumper by freshman Manny Toha (Newark, N.J./Marist) at the 6:28 mark.

* The Devils once again regained the lead when Zachary Foley hit a three-pointer to make the score 57-55 with less than five minutes to play.  Holy Family tied the game at 57-57 with two free throws from junior Rick'Keem Mixson (Linden, N.J./St. Mary of the Assumption (Raritan Valley CC)).  However, the Devils broke the tie on the next possession with a layup basket from Matthew McCaffrey.

* USciences increased its lead to 64-57 with three minutes to play in regulation. Holy Family chipped away at the Devils' lead and came within three points of tying the game.  However, time was not on the Tigers' side as Toha connected on a three with only six seconds left with the score at 71-68.  A pair of free throws by Foley extended the Devils lead to 73-68 after the Tigers were forced to foul to extend the game.
